New Delhi ∙ CBI checks 105 centers in the country in connection with cyber fraud. The raid followed a tip-off from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Interpol. The FBI had filed a complaint with Interpol that some call centers in India were scamming US citizens for money transactions. CBI conducted inspections at 87 locations and state police at 18 locations across the country.

The raid took place at five places in Delhi. Apart from this, inspections were also conducted in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Assam and Karnataka. A kilo of gold and Rs 50 lakh were recovered from a call center in Rajasthan’s Rajsamand. Call centers in Pune and Ahmedabad were also raided.
