Fayyad: An emergency price for electricity?

A remarkable development emerged in the electricity crisis with what Energy Minister Walid Fayyad revealed that he is heading for a way out that guarantees the continuity of production in the electricity plants, especially following it was not possible to obtain financing from the World Bank for the flow of gas to the Deir Ammar plant. The idea that Fayyad revealed to “Al-Nahar” came to him in the past hours in the face of the crisis in the scene, which stipulates the purchase of diesel, the operation of power plants and pricing for the citizen according to the production price, under the name of an emergency and exceptional pricing for electricity until a radical solution is reached. Within this framework, Fayyad indicated that “a quick mechanism must be found to buy fuel other than Iraqi, and I am thinking of urgent, emergency and parallel mechanisms to ensure the continuity of electrical supply, such as buying diesel and pricing electricity on the price of the material, in order to cover its cost, at least this is how the cost of electricity in Houses are less than the cost of private generators, and they are an emergency tariff,” noting that “in Zahle, for example, the electricity is secured up to 18 hours a day, and I am the one who rates from the Ministry of Energy, and they abide by the pricing. Therefore, I am thinking regarding this issue now, and I still do not I know if that needs a law.”
