Through a new study conducted in USA, has revealed the most popular dog breed across the country, with one particular type of pet leading by a considerable distance.

People have their reasons for preferring a certain type of dog: some are looking for a canine that is friendly to children, others prioritize a pet dog who loves to walk and be outdoorsand some even opt for a four-legged friend who is happy to sit inside a bag.

However, Many may not realize that your choice of dog breed can say a lot regarding you as a person.

Research

According to a study conducted by psychologists from the Bath Spa University in the UK concluded that our race preference can often be a reflection of our own personality.

“We look for dogs that look a little like us, just like we look for a romantic partner that looks a little like us,” lead researcher Lance Workman explained to WordsSideKick.com.

The study looked at 1,000 dog owners Thoroughbreds complete a questionnaire designed to assess their personality traits.

Result

The researchers found a correlation between the type of dog and the personality of the owner. For example, those who had golden retrievers, farmers or Chihuahuas were more personable, while those with Bulldogs or German Shepherds were more outgoing.

The apparent good sense of Labrador owners might go some way to explaining the results of a new survey conducted by Embrace Pet Insurance which explores the most popular dog breeds in each US state.

Labrador retrievers led the way, with the study finding them the most popular breed in 80 percent of states. “Being known as one of the kindest and most even-tempered breeds in existenceit is no secret why this incredibly loyal and intelligent breed is the favorite of the majority of the country,” said a spokesperson for Embrace Pet Insurance.

According to the data, Labradors led in: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, California , Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi , Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas , Vermont, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin.
