Togo celebrates this April 27, 2023, the 63th anniversary of its accession to international sovereignty. As a prelude to the event, the Head of State Faure Gnassingbé rekindled this Wednesday, April 26, the flame of independence.
It is a symbolic act that sets the tone for the festivities.
The ceremony took place at the Place de l’Indépendance in Lomé, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Ms. Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé, the President of the National Assembly, Ms. Yawa Tsègan, the presidents of the institutions of the Republic, members of the government, representatives of the diplomatic corps, senior officers of the Togolese Armed Forces and other guests.
It was also marked by a ringing for the dead in tribute to the valiant people who fought for independence, and the performance of the national anthem, interpreted by the main band of the Togolese Armed Forces.
The demonstrations will continue on April 27 with a military parade, sports activities and celebrations.
We will come back to it.
