Fatshark details upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Darktide cafting changes

If it is rather fun, especially with friends, Warhammer 40,000 : Darktide sorely lacking in crafting. A system of this type certainly already exists in game, but it is very extremely basic; Fatshark was well aware of this, and promised improvements in this direction.

The Swedish studio recently clarified these promises via a blog postdetailing the new products to come but also the reasons from the previous failure. Basically, the crafting system of Darktide been removed at the very last moment, as deemed insufficient. This decision explains in particular why certain panels ” coming soon are still visible in the armory, where the crafting is supposed to take place. It will therefore be entitled to un rework in the next update, and will gain in relevance.

Weapons on sale, which change on an hourly rotation, will now be of all types ; he was particular regarding unlocking bolters, for example, only to find that there wasn’t a single one for sale. Furthermore, the common level items will have a score according to your archetype level, allowing you to use it effectively. In the same vein, the Gift of the Emperor will offer a chance to obtain a weapon directly by completing a mission; its quality will depend on the difficulty achieved, and the secondary objectives completed.

The weapons proposed in such a way weekly will also see their quality increase, but not only! Contracts will be less demanding in their demands, thus avoiding a grind often annoying. Of the contracts more accessible will be added, asking in particular to loot a reasonable amount of plasteel and diamondine.

About the blessings, which allow the improvement of equipment, a rework is also in progress. Blessings as they currently exist will be removed, and replaced with a system where unlocking an ability becomes permanent. Eventually, Fatshark will unveil other methods of acquiring blessings, but that will come in another patch.

No release date for all these changes has yet been communicated, but we hope to see the update be deployed before the arrival of spring. Let’s hope that the opportunity to go further in the lore will also be taken; there where Vermintide perfectly captured the essence of Warhammer, that of 40k is not quite present here – which is a shame, given the involvement of Dan Abnett. It might be interesting to see specific missions, probably related to l’Adeptus Mechanicusto give craftsmanship a little sexier!
