Raipur: A health minister has announced an inquiry into the incident in which a father carried the body of his seven-year-old daughter home on his shoulders in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh. The girl, who died at a community health center in Lakhanpur district on Friday, was being taken home by her father Ishwar Das on foot.
‘The child’s oxygen level was very low. I have been coughing for the last few days. Necessary treatment was arranged but by Thursday his health was deteriorating. The girl died at 7.30 am. We told the family that the coffin would arrive soon. The coffin arrived at 9.20 am, but by then they had left with the body, ”said Dr Vinod Bhargav, Rural Medical Assistant.
Health Minister TS Singh Deo had ordered the action following a video of Ishwar Das returning home following walking regarding 10 km was shared on social media by several people. ‘People who were on duty at the time had to be persuaded to wait until the vehicle arrived. Care should have been taken to prevent such an incident, ”the minister said.
