According to what has been known so far, 45-year-old Vesim Simsek, a resident of Altintag district in Burnova, took his children to a field near the town of Cinar, and shot them. The father tried to end his life with the same gun but failed.
The authorities who arrived at the scene found that the children Jeylin (2), Cemre (4) and Nira Simsek (14) had died on the spot. The injured Hira Noor (11) and the father were taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Vesim Simsek worked in construction and was in the process of divorcing his wife.
According to reports, 2-year-old Jaylynn was found dead with a pacifier in her mouth. Relatives of the Simsek family and local residents carried the bodies of the children for about 2 kilometers by hand, as the ambulance could not reach due to the difficult terrain. The bodies were transferred to the morgue of the Forensic Institute of Izmir.
Mustafa Karatas, a relative of the victims, said: “His wife filed for divorce 2.5 months ago. He was depressed. In his last conversation with his wife, he said to her, ‘You will hear of a great event.’ We are very sad.”
