The attack happened on the night of Sunday, just east of the capital Kyiv. A video from the scene shows rescue workers digging through the remains of buildings in the dark and lifting up the dead child.
A teenage boy and two other people were injured in the attack. According to the emergency services, a building in the suburb of Brovary was hit by the remains of a rocket that was shot down.
