The man went from a meadow onto a slope of around 35 degrees, from which he could no longer drive the motor cart back onto the track and finally, rolling over, he fell 41 meters down the valley. The farmer ended up lying underneath the tractor and died at the scene of the accident.
According to police, the 71-year-old had previously driven the vehicle, which was loaded with manure, from the farm property onto the adjacent field and then downhill in the Laimach district. At a very steep point, he turned the tractor around in order to reverse further downhill onto the field path. In doing so, he apparently had to steer the cart to the left and the front axle hit the steep slope, which led to the fatal fall.
An emergency medical helicopter, an emergency medical team, an ambulance, ten men from the Laimach fire brigade and eight mountain rescuers from Zell am Ziller were deployed.
