Four Americans die after jumping from a speeding boat in a new challenge on the TikTok video platform that quickly went viral.
This new “trend”, which can be found under the hashtag #boatspeeding, is believed to be the cause of death for these four people from Alabama.
The latter sprang from the back of a boat and threw themselves into the wake of it, while the ship continued to advance, according to information from the “Daily Mail”.
State authorities confirmed that all four individuals reportedly immediately broke their necks as a result of the dangerous maneuver, which resulted in their deaths.
Several Internet users have also denounced this worrying trend on the social network.
“I report your video. It’s a very dangerous practice, other people could try it and kill themselves doing it,” said a TikTok user. Another individual claims the practice is “dangerous, and really uncool.”
According to Capt. Jim Dennis of the Childersburg, Alabama, Rescue Squad, one of the victims was a father who was enjoying a day on the boat with his three children, his wife and other loved ones.
The most recent incident occurred in May, when a middle-aged man succumbed to his injuries.
