Muscat: An expatriate died in an accident between a car and a motorcycle in Oman. Another person was injured. His health condition is critical. Royal Oman Police said that the accident happened in Ibri Wilayat in Al Dahira Governorate.
Information regarding the nationality of the deceased expatriate is not available. The person who was traveling with him on a bike is undergoing treatment with serious injuries. The Royal Oman Police informed that immediately following the accident, the injured person was taken to Ibri Hospital and received emergency treatment. The Royal Oman Police has informed that car drivers and two-wheelers should strictly follow safety rules to avoid accidents caused by excessive speeding on the roads.
Strict penalties are imposed under Oman’s traffic laws for those who drive recklessly or endanger life or property, drive dangerously or overtake in restricted areas. According to the law, those who show carelessness on the road will be punished with imprisonment of ten days to two months or a fine of 100 Omani Rial to 500 Riyal or both.
