Errick Persaud, a 24-year-old man, was accused of crashing while driving drunk and causing the death of Michael Rodríguez (38), a NYC municipal employee who was traveling as a passenger in a truck early Thursday morning in Queens.
Defendant was behind the wheel of a luxury Mercedes-Benz that crashed into a New York City Department of Environment (DEP) truck at Atlantic Ave. and Lefferts Blvd. in the vecindario Richmond Hill at 2:30 a.m. Thursday.
Persaud, who He claimed he had only had two beers, was charged Thursday with vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated. His bail was set at $125,000 at his arraignment, she said. Daily News.

Police said Rodriguez was riding in the front passenger seat of a DEP truck that was struck by Persaud’s Mercedes.
The truck was heading east on the avenue when Persaud, who was driving south on Lefferts Blvd, he ran a red light and crashed into the truck. The impact of the crash overturned the municipal vehicle.
The 40-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention, police said, but Rodríguez he was ejected from the truck and pinned under it.

All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
