Zurich Fluntern: During construction work for the Zürichberg villa – 24-year-old is fatally injured
According to a news scout, a worker was trapped and fatally injured. The police confirm the death.
One person died in an accident at work at Susenbergstrasse 123 on Thursday morning. The Zurich city police confirmed this on request. According to a news scout, the police and emergency services from Zurich Protection and Rescue were on site with a contingent. According to previous knowledge, the truck driver got out at the construction site, according to the city policewent behind his vehicle and was hit and pinched by an excavator.
Despite the immediate resuscitation measures taken by the emergency services, the 24-year-old died on the spot. The exact course of the accident is being clarified by the Zurich City Police and the Zurich Forensic Institute. The paramedics and the professional fire brigade from Protection & Rescue Zurich were also on duty.
Construction work is currently taking place on the site. The concept of a Zurich architect’s office envisages that the historic villa will be completely renovated. The property is listed in the inventory of buildings worthy of protection, the villa itself is partially protected. The other existing buildings on the site give way to four residential buildings that are to be embedded in a park.
Inheritance dispute over million villa
The stately property once belonged to the daughter of a textile manufacturer. She passed away in 2009 at the age of 91. Because the woman left three wills, a bizarre inheritance dispute ensued. Initially, a foundation was favored, represented by a banker who had taken care of its finances. Among other things, the foundation should promote young artists and organize exhibitions. Later she appointed Bruno Kläusli, the former president of the Zurich Heritage Protection Service, as heir – and in the end the foundation once more.
The two parties involved then covered each other with ads – among other things, for inheritance sneaking and burglary. After an expensive court battle, Kläusli lost – he had to pay almost half a million francs in fees and compensation. The complete inventory of the villa was liquidated in 2015, the proceeds went to the foundation.
