The devastating incident took place on Page Road, close to the intersection with Holloman Road, an area known for its quiet neighborhoods.
The Traffic and Accident Team (TACT) of the Durham Police Department has taken charge of investigating the collision, which occurred around 8:37 p.m., taking the lives of both a woman and a small child.
The accident involved two vehicles: a black 2015 Infiniti QX60, operated by 56-year-old Rodney Brower, who was heading northbound, and a blue 2008 Chevy Cobalt, occupied by 35-year-old Sherri Walker, accompanied by three children under five years old and another adult.
Authorities are currently piecing together the circumstances, as the two vehicles collided head-on along the dimly lit stretch of road, resulting in catastrophic outcomes for the victims.
Walker was rushed to a local hospital; however, despite the diligent efforts made by emergency medical personnel, she tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
