A 62-year-old woman from Minderhout in Hoogstraten died in a serious traffic accident on Saturday afternoon. According to initial findings, the victim was riding a bicycle towards his hometown when he was overtaken by a tractor traveling in the same direction.
It is not yet known the circumstances of the accident, or whether the woman was hit by the tractor or if she was startled and rolled over. The accident happened near the police station.
Bike lanes have been painted yellow on both sides of the road, but many two-wheeler riders still don’t feel safe there. After the accident, the local police in Noorderkempen organized a local diversion. The tractor driver is a 48-year-old man from Hoogstraten, but no traffic expert has been appointed.
