A 72-year-old man died on Tuesday following being attacked a few days earlier outside his home in Vieux-Condé (North) by young people whom he had asked to make less noise, we learned from the Valenciennes prosecutor’s office. .
“Three individuals” aged 18, 17 and 14, “who had no criminal record”, were indicted, according to the prosecution.
On the night of July 5 to 6, the Valenciennes police intervened in Vieux-Condé following the attack on this man “who was discovered lying on the public highway”.

The 17-year-old young man, placed in pre-trial detention, was indicted for “attempted murder”, a charge for which the prosecution indicated that it had requested reclassification as “intentional homicide” following the death of the victim.
Young people aged 18 and 14 were indicted for “non-impediment to commit a crime or misdemeanor and failure to assist a person in danger”.
“I have remained silent until today in the face of the tragedy that has affected our city. Like all of you, I am in a state of shock at this act of rare violence,” said the mayor of the town. David Bustin on Tuesday in a statement.
