The five people who lost their lives Saturday in an accident on Highway 401, between Belleville and Trenton in Ontario, are students from Montreal and Toronto.
The Ontario Provincial Police said Sunday that the victims, between the ages of 21 and 23, were all Indian students who resided in Montreal and Toronto.
Jaspinder Singh, Karanpal Singh, Mohit Chouhan, Pawan Kumar and Harpreet Singh were pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision involving a semi-trailer and a van occurred on Highway 401 between Aikins and Saint-Hilaire streets during the night from Friday to Saturday around 3:45 a.m.
Two other people were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The police investigation is continuing to shed light on the causes and circumstances of the accident.
