Fashion designer Roberto Cavalli has died at the age of 83

The Italian designer Roberto Cavalli passed away today (Friday) at the age of 83. The Italian news agency ANSA announced that Cavalli died at his home in Florence following being ill for a long time.

Born into a family of artists in Florence, Italy in 1940, Cavali was one of the most well-known designers in the fashion world. He first launched his brand in 1970, and became famous for animal prints and prints on leather.

In the 70s he designed for celebrities such as Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren, and other generations of celebrities wore his designs later, from Jennifer Lopez to Kim Kardashian.

Cavali left behind six children from three relationships and his partner, the Swedish model Sandra Nilsson. His last child, Nilsson’s son, was born when Cavali was 82 years old.
