Strasser and Süss congratulate Nikolaus Berlakovich and his team on their success in the LK election
Burgenland (OTS) – The hard work of the Burgenland Farmers’ Association around chairman and top candidate DI Nikolaus Berlakovich has paid off: In the Chamber of Agriculture elections on March 26, 2023, first place was maintained with 74.16% of the votes and an increase of 2.1%. While the SPÖ farmers lose votes, the Liberal Farmers’ Union fails to get into the General Assembly. Around 1,650 voting cards are still being counted, and the final result will be available on Monday evening.
“We congratulate the farmers’ association and Nikolaus Berlakovich as well as all officials on this success. Difficult times show that consistency is the key. The task now is to put the voters’ mandate into practice and to live up to their trust. The Farmers’ Union will continue to reliably take care of the concerns of farmers in Burgenland,” said Farmers’ Union President Abg.z.NR DI Georg Strasser and Farmers’ Union Director Ing. Mag. David Süss.
As the first to be affected by climate change, the farming families in Burgenland need the support of politicians, according to Strasser: “The Farmers’ Union is a strong voice for family farms when it comes to securing the supply of food. The goal is to secure necessary and sensible measures such as the irrigation of certain crops instead of becoming dependent on climate-damaging imports. This success confirms the good work of the farmers’ association in recent years.”
The director of the farmers’ association, Süss, congratulates: “Nikolaus Berlakovich and his team in the Burgenland farmers’ association were and are reliable partners. The tireless commitment at all levels leaves its mark and makes the concerns of the farmers audible. Strong farmers’ unions in the federal states are the basis for successful work in the federal government. Together we have launched many political milestones such as the eco-social tax reform, the electricity cost bonus and the supply security package.”
