Vienna (OTS) – After Hans Seitinger’s health-related departure as chairman of the Styrian Farmers’ Association, the course is being set anew. At the State Farmers’ Council on Saturday, October 14, 2023 in Graz, Franz Titschenbacher was elected as Seitinger’s successor and new Farmers’ Association chairman with 95.83% of the delegate votes. Farmers’ Association President Georg StrasserMinister of Agriculture Norbert Totschnig and Farmers’ Association Director David Sweet congratulate: “The members of the Styrian Farmers’ Association have expressed their confidence in Franz Titschenbacher. With his persistence, his stamina and his always courageous commitment to the farmers, he is the right choice.”
Strasser and Süß emphasize Titschenbacher’s experience: “Franz Titschenbacher has already demonstrated foresight in many functions, not least as President of the Styrian Chamber of Agriculture. He knows Styrian agricultural policy and the concerns of Styrian farming families, which he supports with full conviction. We are firmly convinced that he will vigorously advocate for the sustainable expansion of renewable energy sources and the use of regional biomass, the strengthening of small-scale agriculture in Styria and a viable approach to dealing with the large carnivore wolf. “We look forward to working with Franz Titschenbacher in his new role as chairman of the Styrian Farmers’ Association,” Strasser and Süß pledge their full support.
Agriculture Minister Norbert Totschnig joins in the congratulations: “For around 10 years, Franz Titschenbacher has led the Styrian Chamber of Agriculture with foresight, consideration and a remarkable track record. The clear election result for the Styrian Farmers’ Association chairman is the result and testimony of his meritorious work to date. With practical relevance and professional expertise, he has represented Styrian family businesses well over the past few years. I am convinced that with him as the new chairman, the Styrian Farmers’ Association will continue to be the strong representative for our family farms and rural areas. My greatest thanks go to Hans Seitinger for his decades of commitment – I wish him the best in terms of health!”
Franz Titschenbacher from Ennstal, who runs a farm with dairy cattle, distinguished himself as an official at various levels at a young age and was elected the youngest mayor of Styria at the age of 29 – an office he held for 20 years. Titschenbacher was elected Vice President of the Styrian Chamber of Agriculture in 2012 and has been its President since 2013. He was also deputy chairman of the Styrian Farmers’ Association and has been President of the Austrian Biomass Association since 2018.
