Vienna – More than three months ago, the OMV subsidiary Borealis announced the sale of its fertilizer division to the Czech Agrofert group. The Lower Austrian farmers’ association sees this as a threat to the security of the food supply in Austria and wants to bring the deal down with the help of the European cartel watchdogs. The farmers have hired the constitutional lawyer Heinz Mayer to support them, who considers the sale to be inadmissible. Borealis plans to go ahead with the sale despite opposition, a company spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
