In the maelstrom of some Resident Evil remakes, some fans launched their own project to update Resident Evil Code: Veronica and it looked really spectacular. The use of the past tense is no coincidence since at the moment the project is canceledpresumably due to legal pressure from Capcom.
The title was always one of the “weird ones” within the Resident Evil franchise. The idea, in its conception, was that the game would be Resident Evil 3 continuing the events of Resident Evil 2, but for various contractual reasons this did not happen and instead we got Code: Veronica.

At the story level, Code: Veronica is one of the most important in the series, it was the one that brought Albert Wesker, the antagonist of the first game, to the fore once more and laid the foundations for what would be Resident Evil 5 and the future of the IP, in general terms, not counting the fourth installment.
Capcom, for its part, always pretty much ignored the gamealthough it is true that he received a remaster in HD and the game was re-released in 2011 for Xbox 360 and PS3. A group of fans, seeing the abandonment of their creators, decided to create their own remake taking as reference the others remakes officials of the first Resident Evil, they even went so far as to release a demo, but unfortunately the adventure came to an abrupt end due to the Capcom threat to take legal action once morest the developers.
The only possible “good” news is that Capcom may have finally decided to remake it on its own and doesn’t want any unauthorized competition, though this is mostly speculation at this point.
