Farewell to overweight: pensioner slims down and becomes a fitness influencer

Watch the video: From the overweight pensioner to the fitness influencer – and that at the age of 75.

What an impressive transformation: from overweight pensioner to fitness influencer – and that at an amazing 75 years.

Canadian Joan MacDonald’s transformation begins five years ago.
The 70-year-old suffers from joint pain and high blood pressure, for which she has to take medication.
When her doctor tells MacDonald she needs to increase her dose, the Canadian decides to make a change in her life.

With the help of her daughter Michelle, who is a fitness trainer herself, she changes her diet and becomes active in sports.
In 2017, MacDonald flies to Tulum, Mexico, begins working out at her daughter’s gym and changes her eating habits.

The hard work pays off: following a month she loses four and a half kilos and is able to reduce her medication dose. MacDonald notices the difference and stays on the ball.
The 75-year-old lost a total of 29 kilos and she no longer needs the medication for her high blood pressure.

The fitness influencer now goes to the gym five days a week.
On her daughter’s advice, she creates an Instagram account to share her success story with other people. In addition to her account with one and a half million followers, on which the 75-year-old regularly posts videos and photos of her everyday fitness, she runs a website and her own app.
While it hasn’t been an easy road for MacDonald, the 75-year-old shows that it’s never too late to change your life – no matter your age.
