Farewell to Marshal Di Tizio. Carabiniere and great sportsman – Il Resto del Carlino

The Arma and basketball. Obviously together with his family, his wife Barbara and two children aged 17 and 14. They were the great passions of Pierpaolo Di Tizio, a Carabinieri marshal, commander of the Portomaggiore station since 2018, and then an amateur basketball player. He passed away in recent days, very young (he was 47 years old), after an illness that left him no escape, and it was his former club in our area, Cestistica Argenta (where he was much loved and had also served as captain), that first gave the news, followed by other touching memories, such as that of the National Association of Carabinieri of Portomaggiore.

“He played with Cestistica and his temperament – they recall on the profile of the Argentine basketball club –, his strong and loyal character, his great correctness and sensitivity will be an indelible memory for all of us who knew him.

He faced a devastating and atrocious disease with the courage and dignity that always distinguished him. All of Cestistica Argenta gathers in a big embrace around Barbara and her children”. Many comments from people linked to the basketball environment and beyond, and messages of condolence towards the marshal and basketball player who passed away so young.

A man and a Carabiniere who had also made himself known in his work, not only on the basketball court, for his great generosity and dedication. Just remember what happened in 2016, when he was commander in Migliarino and together with a colleague he saved three people who had fallen with their car into a canal in Ostellato, risking drowning. A gesture that earned him a commendation from the regional commander of the Arma.

And that yesterday many wanted to remember, with great emotion.

“Today the community loses an important piece, loses a great man, loses a great marshal, a person always available to everyone, never out of line. There are no words. The National Carabinieri Association, Portomaggiore section, joins the Di Tizio family in grief for the premature passing of dear Pierpaolo.

To his wife, children and all his relatives, we extend our deepest condolences.”
