A page in history is turning for RTL-TVi. The private channel will end one of its emblematic shows on the air for almost 40 years. This is I comme, the information magazine created by Robert Dilligent in 1984, taken over in the early 90s by Jacques van den Biggelaar. As our colleagues from L’Avenir indicate, the show was broadcast in total discretion. She has not been in the program schedule for over a month. It has not been broadcast since October 7.
It is true that the idea that gave birth to I comme has faced serious competition from social networks since they made video their priority. Indeed, Robert Dilligent had imagined the show by noting that many images of interest or of an unusual nature were never broadcast on television channels, whether in news or magazines. The former presenter of the RTL television news then made it his mission to offer these reports which had not found their place in the programs. Originally, the concept was to be called Such Is TV.
RTL-TVi has not officially confirmed the discontinuation of I comme. However, it came back to our colleagues at L’Avenir, among others, that the show was definitely put in the closet. A decision which is surprising as the program celebrated its 40th season and underwent adjustments for the occasion. Jill Vandermeulen and Ludovic Daxhelet had joined the team. A new covering had been made. As for Jacques Van Den Biggelaar, he presented his last season since he is soon retiring. There are 3 or 4 shows left in the box. Nothing says that they will ever be broadcast. Sad end to a meeting which left its mark on the RTL-TVi schedules and its viewers…
RTL, RTBF, LN24: the extraordinary challenges of the 2023 TV and radio season
How will RTL occupy the Saturday evening slot reserved until now for I comme? Mystery ! The channel successively offered a special Céline Dion evening, several programs dedicated to comedians and bloopers.
We know that RTL has projects in the works, particularly in terms of entertainment. Among these, L’Avenir singles out Starmaker, a variety show quickly announced by the channel for early 2024. The concept is simple: candidates are invited to slip into the shoes of an artist and reproduce identical one of his songs. The public will vote to choose the best performance. The mechanics are known and have already proven themselves. In fact, it seems perfectly suited to the Saturday evening slot…
