Each season finale, several media outlets make changes to their content schedule and as a result, various talents are removed from the screens or replaced by others. This year was not the exeption.
In 2023, sports channels had a rather eventful end of the year. ESPN ceased operations in the country, while Movistar Deportes announced the removal of up to three programs. For its part, GOLPERU decided not to extend contracts with several of its figures until 2024.
The exodus of clubs affiliated with the Peru Football Consortium to sign with the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) the transmission of their matches, as well as the relegation of Deportivo Municipal, means that by 2024 they only have the television rights of three teams: Universitario de Sports, Sport Boys and Carlos Mannucci. This caused a substantial cut in its programming and, at the same time, in employees.
The most recent of these is that of the presenter Milena Merino, who since 2019 belonged to the company’s ranks. Last Saturday, January 6, the sports journalist confirmed the news and indicated that she was notified a few days following giving birth to her second child.
In the first instance, through her social networks, she thanked her now former signal colleagues and also her followers for accompanying her on this journey of her career.
“Where do I start, this is not an informative reel, a debate or any of these things. You are a fundamental part of my life, you were in the most beautiful moments such as the birth of my children, my marriage, among many others, like these last four years that I was part of GOLPERU, where I met incredible people and made great friends, which I love , I adore and admire,” he commented via Tik Tok.
Next, she revealed that the decision to leave the exclusive Movistar channel was unilateral and that it took her by surprise in the midst of motherhood, when she had no other professional plans, so it was difficult for her to assimilate it.
“Unfortunately, I have to tell you and answer the question that you have asked me so many times in recent days, where I am going to be in 2024. I am not going to continue on the GOLPERU screens and it is not my own decision, it is a decision that It hit me like a ‘bucket of cold water’. I’m not going to lie to you by saying that ‘I already have new projects’, because it wasn’t like that. It took me some work to process, but today I tell it openly because I know better things are coming…”
Finally, he noted that in the not too distant future he will announce the next chapter of his profession, but he will continue to be in front of the screens, as he believes that is where he shows his best performance.
“I recently became a mother for the second time and a few days later I found out that I was not going to continue on the GOLPERU screens, that they were not going to renew my contract, but I am sure that you will accompany me wherever I go. In the next few days, later, I am going to tell you where we are going to see each other, because the screen is my natural habitat and that is where we are going to continue seeing each other in 2024,” she concluded.

In addition to Milena Merino’s goodbye, other drivers also stopped belonging to GOLPERU. Officially, Carolina Salvatore and Roberto Drago also announced their departure. Giancarlo Granda hinted at a possible departure following his last broadcast in 2023.
“Today I feel grateful to God for having shared these seven years in GOLPERU. I take great friends and colleagues with me forever. New projects will come because that’s football and life goes on,” ‘Titín’ wrote on Twitter.
“End of cycle. Now the best is coming. Kisses to all, see you soon,” Salvatore published on the same digital platform.
