Farewell to Enrique Vázquez, renowned journalist and writer

The journalist and writer Enrique Vázquez, who was deputy director of Radio Nacional, university professor and stood out in the times of the magazine “Humor”, died at age 70, confirmed his family through social networks. In the early ’70s, she also worked in “Black river”.

Born in Cordoba in 1953, Vázquez trained as a journalist in his hometown and in London and directed the Communication Sciences course at the University of Buenos Aires between 1986 and 1989.

Throughout his life, he also worked for Diario Sur and with his production company El árbol y el bosque he worked on Radio Belgrano, Radio Excelsior and Radio Nacional.

In a good part of his activity he exercised the investigation journalism who was able to express himself in documentaries for Canal (á) and Canal 7 and in three books: «PRN, the last one: origin, peak and fall of the military dictatorship» (1985), «El osario de la rebellía. Campo de Mayo de Roca to the Kirchners” (2015) and “Customs. Corruption and smuggling» (2018).

He was one of the journalists and writers who did the most research on the last military dictatorship. Colleagues singled him out as one of the «essential for democratic recovery».

In 2001 he received an award for the Armenian National Councilwhich years later would be renamed Hrant Dink and which is awarded to journalists and communicators committed to human rights and the Armenian Cause.

In recent years, he has been hosting the “Other Thing” program, a morning cycle for Radio Argentina AM 570 and his son Enrique fired him defining him as someone who “he lived and died in his own way.”
