The other great news from the meeting between the Ministry of Agriculture and the FAO is that the minister Cecilia López requested immediate assistance in the creation of a food purchase and storage mechanism similar to the Idema that existed in Colombia many years ago.
Regarding this issue, López said “I know that the country is waiting for that, it has to do with the future of a possible Idema, I have asked for cooperation because Brazil is a country that in Latin America has found an efficient way to do this. to arrive, so that the harvests of the producers can play the role in terms of commercialization that is expected”.
Finally, the support requested by Minister López will also be focused on being able to understand crisis points in which FAO has experience in order to develop efficient mechanisms and strategies for Colombian agriculture.
