Fanling Golf Course

The government took back 32 hectares of land on the Fanling Golf Course in September. On the same day, some facilities will be opened to the public for pet parks and walking trails. Yang Runxiong, Director of Culture and Sports, pointed out that from mid-September to mid-November, the land on the site will be lent to the golf club for two large-scale golf events in October and November. At that time, the pet park and walking trails will be closed.

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will take over regarding 32 hectares of land east of Fan Kam Road at the Fanling Golf Course on the 1st of next month, and will open it as a pet park and walking trail from 3 pm on the same day. Both facilities are open daily at 7am, the pet park is closed until 6pm and the walking trail is open until 9pm. The parking lot is changed to a 24-hour public parking lot.

Director of Culture and Sports Yang Runxiong

Two five-a-side football pitches reopen following repairs

Yang Runxiong pointed out that it was originally planned that two five-a-side football fields would be opened for the public to play football, but due to serious damage and poor grass, they were opened only following maintenance.

The pet park and walking trails will be closed from September 11 to November 15. The government needs to lend the relevant land to the Hong Kong Golf Club to organize two golf tournaments in October and November. Yang Runxiong said that the government has established policies regarding the fee arrangement, and the actual details and arrangements are still being discussed with the golf club. In the future, the venue will be borrowed for large-scale events, and the rental arrangements and fees will be the same as those for events held at other venues.

Yang Runxiong hopes that the golf course will be developed into a conservation and static recreational facility. He emphasized that the LCSD manages many parks and a large number of trees in Hong Kong. It has professional capabilities and can properly handle the reclaimed land. The venue will not be used as a golf course in the future, so the appearance will be different from the current one. The Department will make more detailed arrangements following the completion of the large-scale competition in November.

Ning Hanhao: Follow up the golf course project legally and reasonably

The Golf Club is conducting a judicial review of the EIA report approved by the Environmental Protection Agency for the development of the Fanling Golf Course. The High Court last week heard the submissions of both parties on the application to suspend the implementation of the EIA decision. It is expected to issue a ruling before Friday. Ning Hanhao, director of the Development Bureau, pointed out that the judicial review case has not yet been completed, and the authorities will follow up the project legally and reasonably depending on the progress and legal advice. However, it added that in response to the conditions imposed during the EIA approval earlier, the authorities needed to review the development density of the project, which would definitely affect the progress of the original completion of public housing in 2029, but still hopes that the public housing of the project can be supplied to the market within the next ten years.

Yang Runxiong: We will discuss different financial options with West Kowloon

Regarding the financial difficulties of West Kowloon, the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority has proposed a new financial plan to the government. Yang Runxiong pointed out that the government has always been concerned regarding the financial capacity of the West Kowloon Authority, and will maintain close contact with them to explore different feasible solutions. Any new plan Where government approval is required, assistance will be provided with the application process.

In line with the government’s revitalization of the night economy, the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority is exploring holding street performances in the district. He pointed out that the cultural district is under the responsibility of the management authority and the government will support it. As for street performances in other places, the government has always encouraged the public to participate in Perform street performances where feasible, but balance the impact on surrounding residents.
