Polish programmer Jonas “ConstructVOD” Osmenda (Jonasz Osmenda) completed work on a technical demo version of the project «Fallout 2 FPS»transforming the iconic RPG into a first-person action RPG that looks like a mixture of classic parts Doom and The Elder Scrollsbut retaining the basic mechanics Fallout 2.

In the demo, the player can get a rough look at the project, evaluate the combat mechanics, and explore Klamath in first person. Weapons available to the player include fists, a knife, a spear, a submachine gun, a gatling laser, and a pulse rifle. Weapons can be tested on enemies or the civilian population of the city.

Many mechanics are not available in the demo. So, for example, the player will not be able to talk to the inhabitants of the city or use the Pip-Boy. Also, the general view of the location is not completed. Nevertheless, the combat system looks quite complete.

The settings deserve special attention – the player can change the game mode (real-time or half-step), language (Polish, English and Russian), the level of violence and the quality of the display of weapons in the hands (high-quality or pixelated). Also, it is impossible not to mention a nice bonus in the form of an HD remake of the game’s introductory video to Louis Armstrong’s song “A Kiss to Build a Dream On”.

You can download the demo here. Do not forget that this is an early demo and the project may change in the future.

It is worth noting that a similar project called «Fallout: Bakersfield», a first-person shooter set in the Necropolis, one of the locations of the first Fallout game. Also, since 2013, a project has been under development The Way of Chosenwhose purpose is to transfer Fallout 2 on the engine Fallout: New Vegas.
