Kochi: Famous director K.G. George (78) passed away. Ernakulam died at Kakanate Old Age Centre. KG George was the director who gave a new interpretation to Malayalam cinema through different themes. Examples of this are films like Panchavadipalam, Irakal, Yavanika, Adam’s Rib, Lekha’s Death in a Flashback. He entered the cinema through the film Swapnatanam. The last film he directed was Ilavankot Desam which released in 1998.

KG is a film genius who has given Malayalam cinema new levels of expression in his film career spanning more than two decades and continues to amaze the audience with films that have traveled ahead of time. George. Through his style, KG crosses the imaginary boundaries of art cinema and commercial cinema. George debunked.

KG has done regarding twenty films like Swapnadanam, Akkatad, Kolamal, Mela, Iraala, Yavanika, Lekha’s Death A Flashback, Adam’s Rib, Behind the Story, Another, Panchavadipalam, Ee Kanni Koo. Directed by George. However, he initiated many revolutionary changes in the history of Malayalam cinema. Gatha of Nightingales also won the State Award for Popular and Artistic Film in 1978. In 1982, Yavanika won the State Award for Best Film and Story and in 1983, Adam’s Ribeyelin won the State Award for Best Film and Story. In 1985, he won the K.G. George received the state award.

He received Kerala State Film Awards for films like Yavanika, Swapnatanam, Adam’s Rib and Irakal. In 2016, J.C. Daniel also received the award. His wife is singer Salma.
