The “Family Forum” undertakes the tasks of reform and guidance

New tasks were added to the “Family Forum” Center in the Department of Social Services in Sharjah, where it was given the authority to carry out family guidance and reconciliation tasks under the supervision of the Family Court in Sharjah, under which it works to hold and implement family guidance and reconciliation sessions from family mentors in the administration, for the disputing parties in the Family Court. . The service was launched in April 2023, during which the new department was able to conclude 50 reconciliation agreements between quarreling spouses, restore water to its courses, erase the issue of divorce from their minds, and of course withdraw the lawsuit filed by one of them once morest the other in the Family Court in Sharjah.
Faiza Khabbab, Director of the Family Forum Department, explains that the new tasks are carried out in cooperation with the Family Court in Sharjah, where the files filed in the court are referred to the administration’s representatives, who are family mentors who work in the court.
Marital infidelity
Regarding the type of problems that lead to filing divorce cases between spouses, according to the available files, Khabbab answers: The first reason is repeated marital infidelity that prompts the wife to file a divorce case due to the impossibility of the situation with a polyamorous husband. The second is Khula cases, where we have come across cases in which the husband is the one urging his wife to divorce him in order to get rid of the burdens that result from divorce, and he finds that Khula is much more economical for him, and the wife is unaware that she will lose her financial rights if she divorces her husband, so all these matters are explained to her. Then she retracts her “dismissal” of her husband.
Likewise betrayal
She goes on to say: One of the rare cases, but new to our Arab society and reprehensible, is that the wife initiates infidelity following learning that her husband has betrayed her on the principle of “age for age and the first is darker.” In this case, the husband intends to file a divorce case in retaliation for his manhood.
Or sometimes one of the parties takes advantage of the presence of the children by teaching them how to invent various reasons that may sometimes amount to accusing the mother of constantly talking to men, and this is at the father’s urging to gain custody, for example, or to not allow the children to see them, or so that the children hate their mother or father.
Exposure to violence
The third issue is exposure to violence in its psychological, physical, and verbal forms, followed by not spending on the home and its family, continuous absence from home for long periods of time, or the husband abandoning his family care roles. One of the reasons leading to divorce or filing divorce cases is the lack or lack of religious motivation on the part of the husband.
Social changes
Khabbab confirms that the current society is going through social changes. After the family played a major role in restoring cohesion and reconciliation between spouses in the event of a quarrel, we found from our experiences that some families, unfortunately, encourage divorce, and this had not happened previously. What is also noted is the multiplicity of divorce cases in Modern marriages that have only been married for a few years, and the reason is due to ignorance of the nature of marriage, and also due to the lack of assistance from people with experience and solutions among social consultants, as some of them are still reserved or ashamed, or do not accept resorting to a specialist to obtain his advice. While many problems, especially family ones, are solved through reform, guidance and consultation.
