Last Monday, February 12, María Isabel López Francis, 24, died at the Nuevo Amanecer hospital in Bilwi, Nicaragua and was buried.
However, his paternal relatives unearthed his body on Thursday the 15th and spent five days praying for his resurrection.
According to international media, residents of the Waspam community, on the Northern Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua, are shocked by this case because María Isabel’s relatives took her body to a home where she remained and prayed to her in the hope of that he would resurrect.
According to neighbors’ stories, they questioned the family for digging up a body since it implied a public health risk. While other people from the community showed solidarity and brought food to the family during the vigil.
Until Monday, February 19, health authorities in Nicaragua did not issue a statement regarding the cause of María Isabel López Francis’ death, nor did they investigate the family’s action in unearthing the body.
Shocking what is happening in Waspam:
They dug up the body of a young woman thinking she was alive, in the end a doctor determined that the young woman was dead but the family took the body to a traditional doctor in the area. This is the real Nicaragua👇 pic.twitter.com/0FxzOFpnTk

According to the stories, López’s family maintained hope of resurrection due to the instruction of a “traditional doctor.” However, this Tuesday, February 20, a video was broadcast on social networks showing the moment when her relatives buried her once more due to signs of decomposition on her body.
