The relatives of the victims of the fire in the Kayser wineries in October 2019 in the context of the social outbreak requested that the place be declared a site of memory by the Council of National Monuments.

According to the investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office, the death of five people on October 20, 2019, was due to the inhalation of toxic smoke while the premises were looted.
However, a report from the Chilean Forensic Anthropology and Human Rights Team, delivered on January 6, 2020 to the Public Ministry, accused multiple procedural irregularities and breaches of protocols.
Said report, it also allegedly indicates the probable existence of “promortem and perimortem” injuries, that is, before and during the death of the five victims.
Given this scenario, the families of the victims have insisted on accusations regarding various irregularities in the case and referred to the importance of having a place of memory.
The representative of the Democratic Revolution (DR), Andrés Giordano, who chairs the investigative commission of the Kayser case of the Chamber, confirmed the holding of a reserved session with the persecutors of the cause, including the former candidate for national prosecutor, Jose Morales.
“We will have a secret special session with the Prosecutor’s Office, with Prosecutor Morales and Prosecutor Xavier Armendáriz to clarify the case,” Giordano indicated.
The independent senator, Fabiola Campillai, He stressed the importance of the memorial for the families of the victims, in terms of reparation.
“The request that the Kayser wineries be declared a historical monument and recognized as a memory site to help their families repair,” said the legislator.
The parliamentary commission in charge of the case will resume its functions when legislative work resumes, in March.
In the judicial field, the bodies of Andrés Ponce and Yoshua Osorio, two of the victims of the Kayser factory, will be exhumed on February 1 and 2, following a request from relatives.
