Families of French hostages held by Hamas militants are calling on Macron to intervene

“I demand the intervention of France (…) to get information about my children and all the missing,” said Batsheva Yahalomi, the mother of the missing 12-year-old.

“I think France is very generous and compassionate, and I’m sure that President Macron, who many of us voted for, will do something (…) (and) intervene,” added her mother, Jocelyne.

On Saturday, Hamas militants killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and took about 150 hostages in a surprise attack in Israel.

Samuel Ben David, whose sister Celine Ben David Nagar and daughter Ellie disappeared on Saturday morning, said he wanted photos of all those arrested to be sent to their families.

“I want to speak directly to Emmanuel Macron. I want (…) my sister to come back now,” Meitavas Journo, whose sister also disappeared, told journalists.

Macron on Tuesday condemned blackmail by the Palestinian militant group Hamas after it threatened to execute some of the 150 or so hostages taken in a weekend attack on Israel.

On Saturday, he condemned Hamas’ incursion from the Gaza Strip as terrorist attacks and pledged “full solidarity with the victims, their families and loved ones.”
