THE FAMILIES of accident victims in Ciater, Subang, West Java, expressed their concern regarding the condition of the bus used to transport a group of Lingga Kencana Vocational School students, Depok. The uncle of one of the victims, Robiatul Adawiyah, stated that the bus looked very old and poorly maintained.

He witnessed firsthand the condition of the bus following the accident occurred. Apart from seeing the damage to the bus, Robiatul also saw injured victims waiting to be evacuated in dire conditions at the accident site.

“When we were in Subang, there were many victims whose wounds were really unpleasant to look at, some were crying and screaming,” he said.

Despite this, Robiatul chose to hand over the problem regarding the bus to the foundation that manages Lingga Kencana Vocational School.

“In the future, we will collaborate with the foundation to make efforts to PO buses. I don’t want to interfere with bus matters, let the school handle it,” he said.

The accident occurred when the bus carrying a group of students was passing from Bandung to Subang. While passing down a downhill road, the bus suddenly swerved to the right and hit a vehicle in the opposite lane, then rolled over and hit several motorbikes parked on the shoulder of the road. The accident resulted in 11 people dying and many others being injured. (Z-10)
