Families in Miami-Dade were without electricity for more than 15 days

In southwest Miami-Dade County, several families lived without electricity for 17 days. This prolonged power outage has left residents of an apartment building located in the area of ​​172nd Street and 112th Court without answers on how power would be restored.

Yanelis Sosa, one of those affected, said in an interview with Telemundo: “It’s extremely critical. There’s no terrace, it’s raining today, we can’t go out, the mattress got wet. That’s where we sleep at night with two minors.”

“We have no food, the children cry, they want to eat something and we have to go out and buy it, spending money. All the food has gone bad, the meat”he told Telemundo.

What caused the blackout?

The power outage affected four Miami-Dade homes and was triggered by a seemingly minor incident, but with devastating consequences. The rat reportedly chewed through the central cable, causing a short circuit that left the homes without electricity.
