‘False statements’ spark controversy in civil accident case involving Jeong Soon-shin’s son’s suspension from attendance despite failure to attend special lecture

Minjok Academy High School has refuted claims that lawyer Jeong Soon-shin’s son attended a special lecture during a suspension period. This was discussed at a hearing on school violence against Jeong’s children, led by Rep. Seo Dong-yong of the Democratic Party at the National Assembly’s Education Committee. Seo questioned why the record book showed an attendance for a lecture he did not attend and explained that he was unaware that the teachers in charge of the lecture had been suspended for school violence. Minister Lee Joo-ho of the Ministry of Education agreed to review the matter, after Seo asked whether it required a special audit. Seo also raised questions about the attendance suspension not being implemented correctly. The hearing was attended by various officials and representatives, except for the ruling party, as Jeong, his wife, and son did not attend citing mental health issues.

Minjok Academy High School said that the record was incorrect regarding the allegation that the son of lawyer Jeong Soon-shin came to school and took a special lecture during the suspension period.

At today’s hearing on school violence against Lawyer Soon-Shin Jeong’s children held at the Education Committee of the National Assembly, Rep. Seo Dong-yong of the Democratic Party said, “I didn’t even attend the special lecture, but was it recorded in the life record book as I listened to the special lecture?”

At the same time, he explained the reason for the false entry in the student body, saying, “I did not know that the teachers in charge of the special lecture were suspended for school violence.”

In this regard, when the lawmaker asked Minister Lee Joo-ho of the Ministry of Education, “I acknowledged the false statements, but isn’t it a matter that requires a special audit?” I will review it,” he replied.

Rep. Seo said that there was a record of attending a special lecture on career during the suspension period in Lawyer Chung’s son’s birth record, and raised questions about whether the civil accident did not properly implement the suspension of attendance.

While the ruling party was absent from the hearing today, the principal of Banpo High School, the principal of Minsa High School, officials from the Gangwon-do Office of Education, and Attorney Song Gae-dong, who represented Attorney Chung in the administrative litigation, attended the hearing.

Attorney Jeong did not appear at the hearing on the 31st of last month due to a diagnosis of panic disorder, and his wife and son, who were also adopted as witnesses, also did not attend, saying they had a mental breakdown.

The allegations against Minjok Academy High School regarding the son of lawyer Jeong Soon-shin have been clarified at the Education Committee of the National Assembly. While false entries were made in the student record book regarding a special lecture during the suspension period, it was found that the student did not attend. The matter will be reviewed further, but it is evident that the school has not violated any rules. As for the absence of the ruling party from the hearing, only officials from various institutions attended to provide their input. It is crucial to uphold the values of justice and fairness, and we hope that proper actions will be taken to rectify any misconduct that may arise.
