Fallout New Vegas ported to Unreal Engine 5 – a good example of how style is above the engine

The TeaserPlay YouTube channel has posted a new video showing a fan-made demo of what a Fallout New Vegas remake might look like on Unreal Engine 5. All key features of the new engine, including Lumen, Nanite, ray tracing and a global illumination shader, were used to create this video. .

Although such work looks interesting from the point of view of implementation, this demo can be a great example of the fact that the engine is not the most important thing. Although modern technology allows you to achieve good results, the style of play and the atmosphere have a much greater impact on perception.

The resulting scenes are reminiscent of random desert levels from any game. It’s not enough to just take models and music, transfer them to UE5 and expect the result to be great.
