Fallout 4’s long-awaited Next-Gen update finally has a release date

Following the release of the well-received Fallout TV show, Bethesda has finally announced the release date for the long-awaited next-gen update to Fallout 4.

The free update for the post-apocalyptic open-world RPG is out on April 25 for Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5. It includes native apps for those consoles, tweaks to Performance and Quality modes, as well as improvements and stability fixes. This means that the game will be able to be played at up to 60 frames per second and with an increased resolution.

Otherwise, Fallout 4 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will also get a free update with stability improvements, login and quest fixes, Bethesda said in a blog post. Finally, Fallout 4’s free PC update adds widescreen and ultrawide support, as well as fixes to the Creation Kit and various quest updates.

Players with the PC version of Fallout 4 on Steam, Microsoft Store and GOG will get stability, mods and bug fixes, Bethesda said. Fallout 4 will also be sold on the Epic Games Store and will be a Steam Deck verified version.

Bethesda has announced more content in Fallout 4 updates, including the following free Creation Club items:

Enclave Remnants

Enclave Remnants introduces the pre-war group The Enclave to the story of Fallout 4. In this new mission “Echoes of the Past”, can you stop the Enclave from spreading its dangerous ideology and gaining a foothold in the Commonwealth?

Along with workshop items and the Enclave Colonel uniform, it includes the following previously released Creation Club content:

  • Enclave weapon skins
  • Enclave armor skins
  • Tesla Cannon
  • Hellfire Power Armor
  • Power Armor X-02
  • Heavy Incinerator

Fallout 4 was released in 2015 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One and grossed $750 million. Since then, Fallout 4 continues to be among the most played games on Steam, and thanks to the huge number of mods, players keep the experience fresh. The next-gen update is well-timed, considering it comes after the release of the first season of the Fallout TV series.
