Fake marriage: Money and jewels stolen from doctor, search for culprits symbolic image

Kozhikode: A complaint was made that money was extorted from a doctor from Kozhikode by conducting a fake marriage.

The group approached the doctor after seeing a newspaper advertisement of interest in marriage and extorted Rs 560,000. The police informed that the accused have been identified and a search has been started for them.

Based on the complaint filed by the doctor, the police have registered a case of fraud against Irshana, Rafi, Majeed and Sattar, natives of Kasarkot Kanhangad.

The accused contacted the doctor on the phone after seeing the marriage advertisement given by the doctor. Later he reached Kozhikode and spoke to the doctor. The suggestion brought by them was accepted by the doctor. The police also said that they had taken money from the doctor several times to bring the bride and her relatives for the wedding and to conduct other related events.

Two months ago, the wedding ceremony was held at a lodge near Kozhikode beach. After the ceremony, as soon as the doctor left the room, the accused took the jewelery and the doctor’s bag and ran away. Tried to contact them several times but could not. With this, the doctor lodged a complaint at the police station.
