(CNN) A representative for the family of seven-time Formula One (F1) champion Michael Schumacher (54) said on the 20th that a German magazine published a fake interview using artificial intelligence (AI), and was sued by law. He said he was considering taking action.

Schumacher has not been seen in public since suffering a brain injury in a skiing accident in December 2013.

On the 15th of this month, the German weekly Di Actuel published a photo of a smiling Schumacher on its cover. It was headlined “Michael Schumacher, First Interview”.

The headline is also accompanied by the subheading “Confusingly Real.”

The fake interview appears on page 8, with the headline “My life has changed” and quotes Schumacher’s fictitious remarks regarding his family life and health following the accident.

You don’t know until the end of the article that it’s an AI-generated interview.

A spokesman for the magazine’s publisher, Funke Mediengruppe, declined to comment.

Since the accident, Schumacher’s family has kept information regarding his health to a minimum, out of privacy concerns.

In September 2021, Corinna Schumacher looked back on her husband’s Formula 1 career in a Netflix documentary, saying: “We are staying at home together, doing therapy. Michael is better and more comfortable. I’m doing everything I can so that I can spend my time here. I just want people to feel the presence and bond of family.”
