Assumption, IP Agency. – The fairs coordinated by the Government aim to motivate families to regain the desire to continue producing in the countryside, highlighted the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Giménez, on the occasion of his participation in the Fair on the esplanade of the National Congress. Since last year, they have been carrying out these activities to provide more income to small producers.
He emphasized that the three simultaneous Family Farming fairs this Tuesday are held in San Lorenzo, Fernando de la Mora and Asunción to motivate people to be in contact with the final consumer, without intermediaries, take their entire profit and return to the field. wanting to continue producing.
“We give our people the opportunity to reach the final consumer without intermediaries, so that they can offer their products themselves and take full advantage of their profits. It is a way to motivate our people, to be in contact with the consumer and from there, they return to the field with the desire to continue producing, because that is the motivation we need,” he stressed.
Fairers from seven departments of the country participate
A total of 578 families and 30 organizations from the departments of San Pedro, Ñeembucú, Central, Caaguazú, Guairá and the Agricultural School of Caazapá participate in the three simultaneous fairs organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, he confirmed.
“Today we are bringing fairs from 17 districts of 7 departments of our country, such as the remote Tacuatí and San Estanislao, San Pedro department, as well as Caaguazú, Central and Ñeembucú,” explained the head of the MAG.
Awaken interest in producing
Giménez asserted that the ministerial portfolio in his charge cooperates with low-income families to transport their products, in order to awaken interest in producing for the market.
The Ministry of Agriculture helps with the transportation of products in order to motivate low-income families who want to work and awaken interest in producing in the market, as is the main objective of the fairs.
Furthermore, “to show them that there is a sale, that there is a market, that they will not be taken advantage of by intermediaries, as in the case of cassava that is sold at very low prices,” he pointed out.
The head of the MAG stressed that it is a process that will be improved little by little, “and what we managed to install with the fairs is that marketing that producers need, who know how to produce, but find it difficult to sell, because it is difficult for them to access the final consumer and that is what we managed to break through the fairs.”
He said that smuggling harmed the country’s producers, who no longer had the desire to produce, because at the time of offering their products they had no price and they might not sell them.
He stressed that “currently with the comprehensive work that we are doing with the control organizations, everything that is produced in the field is being sold at fairs. People who never came to Asunción come today and that is what we are doing, bringing cells from producers from the countryside.”
Farm products at good prices
He stressed that everything produced in the countryside can be bought at cheap prices, except for tomatoes.
At the fairs you can get everything that is produced in the countryside at cheap prices, such as squash, pumpkin, Paraguay cheese, corn flour, corn, homemade chicken, suckling pig and meat, with the exception of tomatoes, which we still do not have in large volume. because people are still not convinced that this area can generate income.

They offer products such as goat and sheep meat at 30,000 guaraníes per kilo and pork at 26,000 guaraníes.
