Failures on the page to request criminal records in Venezuela

  • According to reports on social networks, the platform was enabled. However, it is not yet possible to begin the document issuance process.

Users on social networks reported that the website of the Ministry of Interior Relations, Justice and Peace (MIJP), used to request criminal records in Venezuela, was reactivated in October 2024 after having been out of service since August. However, there are also reports that the high demand to enter is causing failures on the platform.

The team of The Diary tried to access the MIJP page, but the interface displayed a message indicating that there were too many users connected. For this reason, the page administration suggests users to “try to log in later.”

The platform remains in a constant loading state and fails to display the home page, preventing users from logging in with their username and password.

People have complained about the situation on social media. A citizen identified as Enrique Vásquez wrote on X (Twitter) that the website was working on the morning of October 15, but that it collapsed due to high demand.

The team of The Diary prepared a note detailing the steps to request criminal records in person. To begin the process, you must go to the headquarters of the Ministry of Popular Power for the Penitentiary Service, located in the Paris building of the La Candelaria parish in Caracas. There, the citizen will be able to manage the document through a letter that explains the reason for their request.

The applicant will have to come from Monday to Friday between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm to be attended to at the ministerial headquarters. The documents necessary to process the issuance of the document include the explanatory letter and the receipts that support the citizen’s request.

The receipts are essential to proceed with the issuance of criminal records, since they allow the veracity of the request to be verified and guarantee that the process is carried out in accordance with the established requirements.

If the applicant has a scheduled trip, you can attach a copy of the tickets along with the letter. Other supports may be:

– Letter of acceptance into an academic program

– Medical reports in case of a health situation

Criminal records can be removed in two to four business days.

The direct relatives of a Venezuelan abroad can carry out the procedure on their behalf. However, if they are not close relatives, the interested party must grant a notarized power of attorney to another person to manage the process. In addition, those who do not reside in Caracas and do not have family members in the capital will have to travel to obtain the necessary documentation. This situation has led to the increase in managers who demand sums of money in exchange for carrying out the procedure unofficially.
