Former president Sebastián Piñera reflected and analyzed the role of the right and its future in Chilean politics, ensuring that following the defeat of the second constitutional plebiscite on December 17 it is weakened, however, he foresees a next government of the current opposition.

In conversation with La Tercera, the former president stated that “not having managed to take advantage with wisdom, prudence and intelligence of the tremendous opportunity to have achieved a good constitutional agreement, but at the same time that it was approved by public opinion, weakened the right.” ”.

He pointed out that the process was confused with a government program of the majority of the Constitutional Council, taken by Republicans, and the main errors of his sector were questioning the Abortion Law on three grounds and “absurd things such as, for example, the issue of contributions.”

“But it is also true that Chile Vamos had enough votes to have been able to reach an agreement for a Constitution that would be approved by public opinion and that would eliminate these little tastes, errors and excesses,” the former president noted.
