Ambassador Nabila Makram stressed that mental health is not a goal, but rather the same as physical health, saying: Just as we go to play sports in order to maintain our physical fitness, we must maintain and work on our psychological fitness as well.

She continued: We always saw on the walls of schools a healthy mind in a healthy body, but with time we discovered that this is not necessarily the case. It is possible that some people suffer from psychological illnesses and at the same time this does not appear on their bodies.

He talked regarding how to maintain psychological fitness by staying away from everything that affects our psychological health, for example, social networking sites that have begun to destroy social communication, and also what we go through in our lives in terms of loss of a person or trauma, and also the events of Gaza and what we see on a daily basis, all of that. It affects our mental health.

She added: We have been working throughout the year since the establishment of the institution to confront the stigma towards mental illness, pointing out that the stigma did not only affect the patient, but also affected the psychiatrist.

Ambassador Nabila Makram greeted the psychiatrists who are members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, led by Dr. Afaf Hamed and Dr. Abdel Nasser Hassan, in addition to honoring the names of a number of psychiatrists.

She paid tribute to the persevering, struggling, and silently suffering woman who has any member of her family suffering from any mental illness, pointing out that the institution will work on many files, including the identification papers of psychiatric patients in hospitals, and work on the file of the rights of people who are mentally ill, and other important files.

Ambassador Nabila Makram saluted the Minister of Health and the Minister of Environment for their efforts in supporting the institution, pointing out that it is the first time a trip has been organized for Abbasiya Hospital patients outside the hospital walls.

The celebration comes in the presence of Ambassador Nabila Makram, founder and chair of the Board of Trustees of the Fahim Foundation for Psychological Support, Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, Minister of Supply, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning, Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, Al-Sayyid Al-Qasir, Minister of Agriculture, Ambassador Moushira Khattab, and Counselor Alaa El-Din Fouad, Minister of Parliamentary Councils. .

She said: We have come a long way in 2023 and in a full year we were able to organize 100 events and help more than 1,500 people, and we will continue on the same path in 2024. We will organize workshops, conduct cooperation protocols, and wait for you in psychological support groups so that we can hear each other’s experiences, understand more, and reach a solution and treatment for any problem.
