Kaiser on the press hour: The fact that Minister of Finance Brunner is open to a redistribution of the financial equalization is a step in the right direction
Klagenfurt (OTS) – KLAGENFURT. The current chairman of the Provincial Governors’ Conference, Carinthia’s Provincial Governor Peter Kaiser, is cautiously pleased with the statements made by Finance Minister Magnus Brunner in the ORF press hour regarding a redistribution of the financial equalization that is currently being negotiated.
“The fact that the realization is also gaining ground at the federal level that we – federal, state, local authorities – have to bear the urgent challenges together, especially with regard to ensuring health and nursing care as well as childcare, is fundamentally gratifying,” says Kaiser, which points out that in the last few years the federal states and local authorities have made a great deal of advance payments to the federal government in exactly these important areas.
In order to take this common request into account financially, a new division of the vertical FAG key is unavoidable. A more or less immoral bait offer of two billion euros per year, which also includes many payments that have already been made, would not suffice for long-term security. “In this respect, I consider the announcement by the Minister of Finance that he wants to negotiate a change in the FAG key, which is being demanded by the federal states and municipalities across all party lines, as an important step,” says Kaiser.
