The island’s largest city, with around 440 inhabitants, has not had normal access to their library since 16 August this year.
It is something that the citizens are informed about on the library’s glass door and the municipality’s website – but there is not a single word as to why.
And on the Facebook page “We der elsker Læsø” there are also several people who wonder about the closure, which has gradually been effected for barely a few months.
On the door, you are informed that you can write to the municipal director if you have any questions.
A citizen has done this and received an answer that “we are working intensively on a quick solution”.

Even though a temporary solution has been made, where citizens can contact the library and agree a specific time period in which to pick up ordered material, the municipal manager of Læsø, Kurt Bennetsen, does not hesitate to call it “deeply regrettable” when Nordjyske contacts him.
– We have had a challenge to look after both staff and citizens at the library, he says.
The municipal director reportedly confirms that it is the behavior of a man that there are problems with, but cannot get any further.
Couldn’t it be solved by involving the police or hiring guards?
– We would prefer not to have episodes where we risk uproar on a daily basis. I have a presumption that we can open again in approximately 14 days, says the municipal manager, who, however, cannot reveal what that hope is based on.
