FADA approves over 800 agricultural projects for Luanda – Jornal OPaís

The country’s capital has 819 projects approved by the Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA), valued at 4.835 billion kwanzas, according to the president of the Board of Directors of this institution, Felisbela Francisco

In an interview with Jornal OPAÍS, Felisbela Francisco highlighted that for the reality of Luanda, until December 31st of last year, 819 projects valued at 4.8 billion Kwanzas were approved and a total of 4.6 billion were disbursed for 808 projects. billion Kwanzas.

In relation to the province of Uíge, there are 61 approved projects that are valued at 794 million kwanzas, with around 7.6 million kwanzas being disbursed for the 61 projects. The Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA) disbursed, until February this year, 18 billion Kwanzas to finance two thousand 61 agricultural projects in the country.

The institution approved a total of two thousand and 671 projects, corresponding to financing of more than 22 billion Kwanzas. The head of FADA recognized the agricultural potential of the province of Uíge, for this reason, she said that there will be improvements in project financing, aiming to leverage several ongoing initiatives in the region. The province of Uíge recently benefited from 15 motor cultivators and five tractors to improve and transform agriculture in the region. According to Felisbela Francisco, this strategic investment aims not only to increase agricultural efficiency, but also to contribute to the economic development and sustainability of rural communities.

The arrival of this multifunctional equipment, capable of increasing efficiency in agricultural operations, triggered a series of events to contribute to agriculture in the region. Felisbela Francisco also highlights that each motor cultivator, received by all municipalities, promises to transform the local agricultural landscape. The financial accessibility of these machines, points out the person responsible, is highlighted as an advantage, opening doors for previously requested crops.

FADA projects, started in the 2020/2021 agricultural campaign for the entire country, are linked to family agricultural production. The value of the financing is mainly intended to finance goods and services directly related to productive activity, in order to promote savings in production costs, increased productivity and family income.

FADA therefore wants greater support for the production chain of cereals (corn, wheat, rice, massango and massambala), legumes and oilseeds (beans, peanuts and soybeans), roots and tubers (reindeer and sweet potatoes, cassava and yam), in addition to vegetables (tomato, cabbage, onion, garlic, pepper and carrot) and fruit (mango, papaya, watermelon, strawberry, avocado, pineapple, citrus fruit, table banana and banana bread). The implementation of this financing, in the institution’s view, falls within the objectives of the Production Support, Export Diversification and Import Substitution Program (PRODESI) and the Medium-Term Development Plan for the Agricultural Sector, approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
