She publicly shared several of the details of her battle, such as that she underwent chemotherapy to eradicate the tumor, but she never spoke regarding the details of her illness.

After her death, it is now her cousin, Claudia Villafañe, who spoke out on the matter and even revealed with what attitude the artist faced this harsh adversity.

Alejandra Villafañe knew that her cancer “no longer had a cure”

Claudia explained details of the situation that this year, following being diagnosed with the condition in May, Alejandra Villafañe went through.

“She definitely loved life, but she did accept the outcome of what would be her illness with great courage,” he said in an interview for the program ‘I know everything Colombia’, broadcast on October 23.

The cousin of the star of melodramas like ‘De brutas, nada’ asserted that although the doctors had already “given them their verdict,” everyone was clinging to “the hope” that “a miracle would happen.”

Although ‘Ale’ revealed in various Instagram posts that he was undergoing treatments, including surgery, Claudia stated that “his illness no longer had a cure.”

“He had a very aggressive and strange cancer, it was called germinal cancer, meaning it was always going to grow, there was no way to cure it or stop it,” he explained.

According to the Mayo Clinic, germ cell tumors are a type of ovarian cancer, which is “rare” and tends to “occur at a younger age.”

The National Cancer Institute says that “an ovarian germ cell tumor is a disease in which malignant (cancerous) cells form in the germ cells (eggs) of the ovary.”

According to Claudia, the 34-year-old interpreter knew the seriousness of her condition, but she never stopped fighting to regain her health.

“She was very aware of everything the entire time, her diagnosis, her treatment, the pastes (pills) she was taking… Until the last moment she was very aware of everything,” he indicated.

This was the death of Alejandra Villafañe

“It was a very quiet death, (she was) surrounded by the people she loved very much, that she loved. She was not alone, she was always accompanied,” she said.

Even though the family is “at peace” because of the way the model calmly transcended, they are still assimilating that she is no longer by their side.

“’Aleja’ for us was happiness, a very brave woman, a warrior, who gave her all, not only in this illness, but in all the processes of her life,” she expressed.

“She taught us what resilience, strength, and something that we admired until the last moment was her faith, because she never lost it,” he said.
